Quilotoa, Volcanic crater lake in Ecuador.
Quilotoa is a water-filled caldera and the most western volcano in the Ecuadorian Andes.
The 3 kilometers (2 mi) wide caldera was formed by the collapse of this dacite volcano following a catastrophic VEI-6 eruption about 800 years ago.
The local people are known as 'Quilotoa', named after the volcano, and are famous for their artwork and crafts.
Tourists can hike around the rim of the caldera or descend to the lake shore.
The lake has a greenish color due to dissolved minerals.
