Chimborazo, Mountain in Ecuador
Chimborazo is a currently inactive stratovolcano in the Cordillera Occidental range of the Andes.
Its last known eruption is believed to have occurred around 550 AD.
In local indigenous culture, Chimborazo is seen as the 'brother' of nearby volcano Tungurahua.
The mountain's high altitude and equatorial location make it a popular destination for climbers.
Due to the earth's oblate spheroid shape, Chimborazo's peak is the farthest point on the Earth's surface from the Earth's center.
Location: Chimborazo Province
