Casco Viejo, Historic district in Panama
Casco Viejo, also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City.
Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city in 1671 when pirate Henry Morgan attacked.
It's a blend of Spanish colonial, French and early American architectural styles.
The district has many narrow streets and brick roads, with balconies full of flowers.
In 1997, UNESCO designated Casco Viejo a World Heritage Site.
