Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, National Park in Colorado, US
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is filled with some of the steepest cliffs and oldest rock in North America.
The Black Canyon was designated a national monument in 1933, then later established as a National Park in 1999.
The park has been inhabited by humans for over 10,000 years, leaving behind rich cultural heritage from Ute Indians to European settlers.
The park offers activities like hiking, fishing, rock climbing, and also features a campground for overnight stays.
The narrowness, depth, and sheer drop of the Black Canyon make it unique; some parts only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day.
