Banks of the Seine, World Heritage Site in Paris, France
The “banks of the Seine in Paris” is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in France. The registration in the list affect an area of approximately 8 kilometers, from the Saint-Louis bridge to the Iena bridge, including the two islands of Saint-Louis and Cité, and the different bridges around the area. This area is located in the center of Paris, and it's one of the most frequent landmarks due to its historical relevance, containing well-known architectonic elements like the Notre Dame Cathedral and several medieval constructions, to the neoclassical and modern ones like the Eiffel Tower. It’s also considered a reference of the remarkable urban planning of the 19th century that influenced the development of many other cities worldwide; among one of these plans is the Haussmannian reformation of Paris, present in some areas of the banks. The different sites are listed from upstream to downstream: -Marais District- A district containing luxurious palaces built by the nobility between 16th and 17th centuries; it’s also known for its gay area. -Hôtel de l'archevêché- The current building is a reconstruction after the Paris commune. -Hôtel-Dieu- Current Ministry of Health. -Hôtel des invalides -Louvre Palace- Currently the Louvre Museum. -Arc du Triomphe du Carrousel -Tuileries Garden- A former palace garden.
