Porta Soprana, Medieval gateway in Genoa
Porta Soprana, also known as Porta di Sant'Andrea, is one of the ancient gates of Genoa.
Constructed between 1155 and 1158 as part of the city's defenses, it has withstood the test of time.
Associated with the notable Italian writer Petrarch during his stay in Genoa.
Visitors today can walk along the walls and enjoy panoramic views of the city.
Porta Soprana is situated near the house where Christopher Columbus is said to have been born.
