Salle du Jeu de Paume, Court tennis hall in France
The Jeu de Paume Room is a rectangular room located in the northern wing of the Palace of Versailles.
This is where, on June 20, 1789, the deputies of the Third Estate, gathered together, swore not to separate and to reassemble wherever circumstances would require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established.
The space has been converted into a museum displaying information about the French Revolution.
It's open for visits every day except Monday, from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
Despite its name, tennis was never played here; the Jeu de Paume Room was designed as a place to play 'jeu de paume', a predecessor of modern tennis.
