Luxor Obelisk, Obelisk in Paris, France
The Luxor Obelisk is a 23 meters high Egyptian obelisk standing at the center of the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France.
Originally located at the entrance to Luxor Temple, in Egypt, it was moved to France in 1833.
It is decorated with hieroglyphs exalting the reign of the pharaoh Ramses II.
The obelisk is flanked by two fountains constructed at the time of its erection on the Place.
The Luxor Obelisk is the only one of the two obelisks given to France still present in Paris.
