Mount Somma, Stratovolcano in Italy
Mount Somma is a stratovolcano located in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Italy.
It is an ancient caldera of the good portion of Vesuvius and had its last eruption in 79 AD, leaving evidence throughout history.
The area around Mount Somma has been inhabited for centuries and it plays an important role in local culture and mythology.
Today, it forms part of the larger Vesuvius National Park.
The main peculiarity is the double-layered wall structure caused by multiple eruptions.
