Built in 1827 by José María Estudillo, it's one of the oldest surviving examples of Spanish architecture in California.
It served as the social and civic center during the Mexican period of California.
The Casa is open to the public as a museum showcasing life in the 19th century.
Its design is considered a prototype of a rambling hacienda.
