Semuc Champey, Natural monument in Guatemala
Semuc Champey is a natural monument in the department of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.
The name 'Semuc Champey' means 'where the river hides under the stones' in Q'eqchi', a Mayan language.
It's a sacred site for the indigenous Q'eqchi' Maya people.
The site can be reached by a challenging road from Cobán or Lanquín.
It consists of a natural 300m limestone bridge, under which passes the Cahabón River.
