Taboga Island, Island in Panama
Taboga Island, often referred to as the Island of Flowers, is a volcanic island in the Gulf of Panama.
The island was discovered by Europeans when Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa sighted it in 1513.
Taboga Island has a quaint village with narrow streets and a historic church dating back to the 16th century.
Only 20 km from Panama City, Taboga Island is accessible by ferry, making it a popular day trip destination.
The second oldest church in the western hemisphere, San Pedro Church, is located on Taboga Island.
