The Texas Legislature is the state legislature of the US state of Texas.
It was formed in 1845 when Texas became the 28th state of the United States.
The Legislature meets at the Capitol in Austin and operates on a biennial basis.
It is composed of a 31-member Senate and a 150-member House of Representatives.
Unlike most states, Texas has a part-time legislature that meets for only 140 days every two years.
