Johns Island, Island in the United States of America
Johns Island is the largest island in South Carolina and is located to the west of James Island and east of Wadmalaw Island.
The island is named after Saint John Parish in Barbados by the first English colonial settlers on the island.
It is known for its rural landscapes, deep ties with African American history, and traditional Southern culture.
Johns Island is connected to Charleston by the Maybank Highway, which crosses the Intracoastal Waterway.
Home to the Angel Oak Tree, estimated to be around 400-500 years old and one of the oldest living things in the country.
