Mount Mazama, Volcano in Oregon, USA
Mount Mazama is a complex volcano in the state of Oregon, United States.
It erupted around 7,700 years ago to form Crater Lake.
The Klamath tribe of Native Americans, who may have witnessed the collapse of Mount Mazama, have long regarded Crater Lake as a sacred site.
Today, it's part of the Crater Lake National Park and attracts tourists from all over the world.
Its eruption was so intense that it caused the mountain to collapse upon itself, forming what we now know as Crater Lake.
