General Sherman, Giant sequoia in California
General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County, California.
It was named after American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman in 1879.
The tree is a popular tourist attraction and has become a symbol of the grandeur of the western United States.
The General Sherman tree is not the tallest or widest but it holds the record for largest tree by volume.
This tree is estimated to be around 2,300 to 2,700 years old.
