The Palais-Royal is a former royal palace located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.
Originally called the Palais-Cardinal, it was built from 1633 to 1639 for Cardinal Richelieu.
The Palais-Royal houses the Ministry of Culture, the Conseil d'État and the Constitutional Council.
It's open to the public and includes a garden, shops, and restaurants.
The courtyard of the palace, known as Cour d'Honneur, features distinctive black and white columns designed by Daniel Buren.
