Mount Assiniboine, Mountain peak in Canada
Mount Assiniboine is a pyramidal peak located on the Great Divide, on the border between British Columbia and Alberta.
Named in 1885 after the Assiniboine people; first ascended by James Outram with guides Christian Bohren and Christian Hasler in 1901.
Known as the 'Matterhorn of the Rockies', Mount Assiniboine has been a landmark for Indigenous peoples and explorers.
Accessible via hiking, helicopter, or skiing but no roads lead to the park, thus preserving its wilderness.
Features the remote Assiniboine Lodge, Canada's first backcountry ski lodge built in 1928.
