Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Canyon in Yellowstone National Park
The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is the first large canyon on the Yellowstone River downstream from Yellowstone Falls in Yellowstone National Park.
The canyon was first officially described by the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition of 1870.
It has been an inspiration for various forms of art, particularly landscape painting and photography.
There are several viewpoints and trails along both rims of the canyon.
The colors in the canyon are due to hydrothermal alteration.
