Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Famous avenue in Paris, France.
The Champs-Élysées is a 1.9 kilometers long and 70 meters wide avenue in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
It was originally fields and market gardens, until 1616 when Queen Marie de Medici decided to extend the axis of the Tuileries Garden with an avenue of trees.
Known for its theatres, cafes, and luxury shops, the Champs-Élysées has become one of the most famous streets in the world.
The annual Bastille Day military parade, the finish of the Tour de France, and the Christmas lights are major events hosted on this avenue.
Its name refers to the 'Elysian Fields', the place of the blessed dead in Greek mythology.
