Cordouan Lighthouse is an active lighthouse located 7 kilometers at sea, near the mouth of the Gironde estuary in France.
Built in 1611, it is the oldest lighthouse in France that is still active.
The Cordouan Lighthouse is often referred to as the 'Versailles of the Sea' due to its lavish interior decorations.
Visitors can tour the lighthouse and its museum by taking a boat from Royan or Le Verdon-sur-Mer.
It is the last lighthouse in France to have a keeper.
