Théâtre du Châtelet is a theatre and opera house located on Place du Châtelet in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.
Opened in 1862, it was designed by Gabriel Davioud at the request of Baron Haussmann.
It has been a venue for opera, ballet, music hall, and film. It hosted the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest.
The theatre has two auditoriums: the 'Grande Salle' with 2019 seats and the 'Théâtre de la Ville' with 1000 seats.
The theatre's ceiling was painted by the artist Jean-Baptiste Armand Guillaumin.
