Keukenhof, Flower garden in the Netherlands
Keukenhof, also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens.
It was established in 1949 by the then-mayor of Lisse with the aim of presenting a flower exhibit where growers from all over the Netherlands and Europe could show off their hybrids.
The park is filled with tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, orchids, roses, carnations, irises, lilies and many other flowers, making it a major tourist attraction during the blooming season.
Keukenhof is located in Lisse, South Holland, near Leiden and Haarlem, the heart of the Dutch flower region, and is easily accessible by bus from the train stations of Haarlem, Leiden and Schiphol.
Keukenhof does not contain the long fields of tulips many visitors expect. Instead, it has a variety of different gardens and garden styles.
