Jebel Barkal, Sacred mountain in Sudan
Jebel Barkal is a very small mountain located some 400 km north of Khartoum, in Karima town in Northern State in Sudan.
It was an ancient city under the Kushite rulers of Nubia.
The mountain is considered sacred by the local people.
The site has several temples and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is believed that the god Amun resided in Jebel Barkal.
