Peberholm, Artificial island in Denmark
Peberholm is a small artificial island located in the Danish part of the Øresund strait.
It was created as a part of the Øresund Bridge connecting Denmark with Sweden, which opened in 2000.
The island is named Peberholm (Pepper Island) as a pun to complement the natural island nearby, known as Saltholm (Salt Island).
Peberholm is not open to the public, it's preserved for scientific and environmental purposes.
Despite being an artificial island, Peberholm has developed a rich biodiversity with hundreds of species of plants and animals.
