Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, administrative quarter in Paris, France

The Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois district is the first administrative district of Paris. It is located in the south of the very first arrondissement and is established, partially on the right bank of the Seine river, and partially on the western side of the Île de la Cité. As being the first administrative district of Paris, it is one of the most central area of the capital city. Its territory has been artificially framed by an imaginary line passing: in the north, by the axis of the Rue de Rivoli; in the east, by the axis of the Boulevard Sebastopol, the Pont au Change, the Boulevard du Palais and finally the north side of the Pont Saint-Michel; in the south, by the axis of the Cours de la Seine; and in the west, by the boundaries between the Tuileries Garden and Place de la Concorde. This perimeter contains an area of 86.9 hectares. Most of the district is occupied by the Louvre Palace and the Tuileries Gardens, as well as the Palais de Justice, explaining why only theWest corner of Île de la Cité, near Place Dauphine, and the area located in the quadrilateral formed by the Rue de Rivoli, Boulevard de Sébastopol, Quai de la Mégisserie and Quai du Louvre and Rue de l'Amiral-de-Coligny are inhabited. The Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois district offers many activities for its visitors, such as: visiting The Tuileries Garden, The Vert-Galant Square, The Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois Church, The Jeu de Paume, The Orangerie Museum, The Louvre Museum, The Musée des Arts Décoratifs and The Théâtre du Châtelet.
