Liberties of the Tower of London, Historical area in the United Kingdom
The Liberties of the Tower of London is an area adjacent to the Tower of London.
They were historically separate from the City of London and subject to the private jurisdiction of the Tower.
Within its boundaries, laws and regulations of the city or government did not apply in full.
The Liberty had its own courts, and even its own form of parliament known as the 'Court of Aldermen' and 'Common Hall'.
